After
months of waiting, first through the fall, the red, yellow and orange leaves
covering the ground, through the winter with the powdery wet white flakes
falling from the sky and engulfing the ground, piling up, amounting to many
feet of it, it finally arrives; the spring time is the time when the snow
starts to melt, the temperature gets warmer, but most importantly spring sports
begin, one of these being lacrosse; the beginning of the season starts with
snow still covering the fields, making it impossible to utilize the grass, but
instead leaving all of the spring athletes to remain inside to practice; although
using the gym is better than nothing, it is not even close to being as
desirable to playing out of the turf or grass fields that come with the snow
melting, but it does have benefits like the fact that conditioning will be
substantially easier, and that we will not have to deal with the harsh wind, or
the pouring rain that drenches everyone and leaves soaking wet clothing; as soon
as the snow begins to melt, with the snow still covering the ground we can move
outside to the hard pavement that makes up the parking lot, but it does not
bring the same joy as the fields.
